Awards have been presented to people in Woodbridge who make the town a better place to live.

Woodbridge Town Council presented a number of awards at its recent Annual Meeting.

The first of these awards was presented to Jean Wallace, who was made an Honorary Freeman in the town.

Mrs Wallace was presented with her award at the Shire Hall in front of a number of the town's other honorary freemen.

A spokesman for the Town Council said: "Jean has done a considerable amount of voluntary work within the Town and this was a just reward for this."

Mrs Wallace wasn't the only one to be recognised during the meeting as the town's annual prize, the Potter Cup was also awarded.

The cup is awarded to individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to Woodbridge in the last 12 months.

Winners are presented with the cup and also a cheque for £50.

This year it was awarded to the Friends of Woodbridge Library with Tim Cornford accepting the award for the group.
