St Mary’s Church in Woodbridge has been presented with a cheque for over £40,000 to refurbish the church’s bells.

The donation came from the Friends of St Mary’s Church group and enables the church to carry out work on the bells in the autumn.

A spokesman for the group said: “Since our launch in 2012 the Friends have raised over £100,000 for church repairs, including exterior stonework to the North Porch and elsewhere and repairs to a number of the stained glass windows.”

The money was raised through a series of concerts and other events along with other donations from over 120 Friends of the church.

The group have three concerts coming up in the next few months including a Bach to Bernstein recital on May 19 and a Showstopper of Musical Favourites on July 20.
