Pupils put on the razzle dazzle for fellow students
Farlingaye High School pupils gathered on Monday morning for a full dress rehearsal of their production Oliver! with the first of four shows being performed on Monday evening.
Over 130 pupils involved in the show put on an energetic and colourful performance wowing the audience with their strong singing voices and impressive portrayals of favourite characters such as The Artful Dodger, Fagan, Nancy and of course, Oliver himself.
Local primary schools were invited to the rehearsal and the cast put on a vivid and vibrant display for the students hoping to inspire and show the younger pupils what they can look forward to in their upcoming years.
Daisy Heron, 14, plays Nancy and put on a passionate performance of the long suffering but strong willed wife of 'baddie' Bill Sykes. Miss Heron's powerful voice and animated performance is a delight to watch and it's obvious that acting is a natural talent for her as she says: "I really want to be an actress when I'm older. This is our last lower school show so we wanted to go out with a bang."
Speaking to the other members of the cast including Olly De Vito, Harry Lambsley and Nell Atkinson who are all taking GCSE drama classes, they expressed their excitement at performing and the impending first night nerves with Miss Atkinson saying: "I'm nervous that I'm going to drop the cane again!"
Judging from the determination and hard work that was put in to the dress rehearsal, the students will no doubt put on a fantastic performance where their love for singing and acting clearly shows.
Tickets are still available for the shows with performances being held on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. For tickets, please click here.
