A free poetry evening is to be held in Woodbridge next month.

Ipswich Amnesty group is hosting the event at Browsers Bookshop in Woodbridge on Saturday, May 11 at 7.30pm.

A spokesman for the group said: “At the event attendees will be invited to choose a poem - or an extract from a play or song - which is special to them and explain why.

“The poem does not have to have a human rights theme and reading should last no more than 10 minutes maximum.”

After the poetry, there will be refreshments on offer and there will also be an opportunity to sign cards in support of Amnesty's chosen human rights defender, Azza Soliman in Egypt.

Anyone wishing to take part in the event should contact Amnesty in advance by phoning Mike Medhurst on 01473 257649 with details of their name and chosen poem.
