Christmas in Woodbridge: Your what’s on guide

With so many events going on this Christmas it’s difficult to keep up! So we’ve put together this handy guide of all the local events you need to know about.

November 29
Late night shopping event
A range of Woodbridge’s independent retailers will be open until late for shoppers to make the most of.
Shops taking part include jewellery stores Chenevix and Aspens, homeware shop Woodbridge Kitchen Company and a host of clothing boutiques including Homespun, Darcy B, Fanny and Frank, Amelia Alice, Taisce and Vanil.
November 30
Woodbridge Christmas Lights Switch On
The light switch on will be on Market Square where shops will be open until 8pm. Music food and refreshments will be on offer. Mayor David Mortimer will turn on the Christmas tree lights at 7pm.

December 2
Woodbridge Christmas Market
In it’s 20th year the market is a bumper one this year with a range of stall holders gathering around Market Hill and Quay Street.

Rendlesham Christmas Light Switch On
Father Christmas will be popping to Rendlesham to switch on the Christmas lights. Rendlesham Primary School will be providing the music. Fruit punch, mince pies and a barbecue will all be on offer to visitors as well as a range of stalls. The event starts at 4pm in the Village Square.
December 3
The Nutcracker, The Riverside
Broadcast live from the Royal Opera House this Christmas classic is brought to life by The Royal Ballet.
December 4 - 7
A Christmas Tale, Seckford Theatre
The Company of Four are hosting a festive show at Seckford Theatre featuring Victorian London, modern Christmas hits and a man named Jack Frost, a grumpy landlord who hates Christmas.
December 8
Tinsel Town, Seckford Theatre
The Theatre Emporium School of Performing Arts is holding a festive night of stories, song and dance.
The Nightmare before Christmas, The Riverside
Tim Burton’s classic story of Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king, will be back on the big screen.
December 8-9, 15 - 16
Santa’s Grotto, Suffolk Punch Trust
Santa will be arriving on his sleigh which will be pulled by a Suffolk Punch before taking up residence in his grotto. The festive farmyard will be home to a number of stalls and a craft fair too.
December 9
A Christmas Carol, Seckford Theatre
John Bromley performs a solo dramatisation of Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol.
December 11
A Christmas Carol, The Riverside
Simon Callow brings to life the Dickens story full of ghosts, goodness and redemption in a cinema streaming of his acclaimed theatre performance.
December 15
Christmas Showstoppers, The Riverside
Riverside Musical Theatre Company will present a showstopper featuring songs from musical theatre and film.
December 16
CBeebies Christmas Show: Thumbelina, The Riverside
A recorded broadcast from The Regent Theatre Stoke-On-Trent, the CBeebies Christmas Show will be a family-fun retelling of the story of Thumbelina featuring song and dance.
December 17
White Christmas (Dementia Friendly showing), The Riverside
Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye feature in the classic Christmas movie. This showing is dementia friendly.
December 18 - 19
Santa sleigh runs
Santa will be heading to Woodbridge courtesy of the Woodbridge and District Lions.

December 19
Open Air Carol Service
The 67th annual open air carol service will be held on Market Hill at 6.30pm and is organised by Woodbridge Rotary Club. Father Christmas will be arriving to give sweets out to children at the event with money from the carol service going to Just 42.
December 22 - 30
Dick Whittington in Space, Seckford Theatre
The Deben Players present a modern twist on the classic Dick Whittington pantomime by setting it in space.
